John Phinney, P.T., D.P.T.
Dr. John Phinney graduated from both the University of Texas and Regis University Schools of Physical Therapy and has over 25 years of experience in the field. John was a long-time PT at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and has extensive expertise in helping patients to recover from neuromuscular, spine, and orthopedic sports injuries. He is an in-network provider for United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and all auto insurance carriers with Medicare soon to be added in the fall 2020.
Dr. Phinney’s techniques include: dry needling, soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization/manipulation, movement pattern assessment and correction, and progressive strength training among many others. He believes that appropriate recovery and rehabilitation after surgery is just as important as the procedure itself and will work closely with your surgeon to optimize your recovery and return to activity. Injury prevention is fundamental to staying healthy and participating in the activities you enjoy. John enjoys treating patients ranging from the young to old including the professional athlete to the expecting mother to the active retiree.
Dr. Phinney has lived in Boulder County since 1996 and in addition to staying active with his soccer playing 12 year old son, has completed many Bolder Boulders, Boulder Backroads half marathon, Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, American Birkebeiner, Ironman 70.3, Triple Bypass and many other less “active” endeavors including enjoying a home cooked meal on the back deck with friends.
